Sound Check!

Sound Check takes you through the maze of mixers, microphones, amplifiers and speakers in a real, “hands on” way.

Have fun learning sound theory, equipment and how to get the best out of a sound system.

Topics include:

• Basic sound theory
• Equipment introduction
• Connecting equipment
• Sound engineering
• Optimizing your sound system
• Repair and maintenance
• Mixing tips

Sound check is designed to simplify and clearly explain sound systems and how to use them.

For musicians, students and teachers, theatre and church staff, Sound Check is for anyone who uses a sound system, large or small. Stop guessing where those wires go and what all those buttons do. Make sense of it … once and for all.

Classes will be held at the Clegg Sound Associates shop in Eliot, ME, where students will be surrounded by professional standard concert equipment.  Students will have opportunities to learn a variety of components like basic mixers, processing, amplification and speaker matching. Students will learn how to EQ a monitor wedge, use a microphone and position mics correctly and ring out a sound system. The Sound Check course allows students to hear for themselves how we perceive sound and how to effectively use good equipment.
